Kazutaka Miyatake (宮武 一貴 Miyatake Kazutaka) is a illustrator and mechanical design for Super Dimension Fortress Macross television series, the The Super Dimension Fortress Macross: Do You Remember Love? film and subsequent spinoffs from Studio Nue of which he is a founding member. He was born September 21, 1949 in Born in Yokosuka City, Kanagawa Prefecture. He is considered one of the pioneering mechanical designers of the genre, along with Kunio Okawara. He released an art book, Miyatake Mega Designer Created Mega Structures in April 2017.
Career[]
Miyatake originally designed the mobile infantry powered armors in the OVA for a Japanese edition of the novel of Starship Troopers and has contributed to the mecha design of many prominent science fiction series such Space Battleship Yamato, Aura Battler Dunbine, Super Dimension Century Orguss, Galactic Railway 999, Crusher Joe and Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Destiny. He is known for also creating the original concepts for the atmospheric entry scene, the Colony Laser's solar array, as well as the automated "funnels" in the original Gundam series. He worked on the SDF-1 Macross and Britai's flagship in the original Super Dimension Fortress Macross. He also designed the Protodeviln for Macross 7 and the Sigur Valens for Macross Δ.
He is a private individual and shuns most modern technology, but is a regular attendee of the semiannual event Wonder Festival held in the Makuhari Messe, in Chiba, Japan. He released an art book, Mega Designer Created Mega Structures in April 2017.
