Macross City is a city first featured in the television series Super Dimension Fortress Macross and subsequent sequels.
Overview[]
Macross City is originally a construction facility built around the crashed ASS-1 on South Ataria Island, but as the restoration of ASS-1 goes, the facility become much more populated due to the members bring their family, and tourist decided to visit the island. Its city layout is like many city on Earth, but its main landmark is the SDF-1 Macross. This place also become one of the important place for UN Military, which they built airbase and naval docks in the island to guard the SDF-1. However as Space War I broke out, the city was accidentally Folded alongside the SDF-1, and was temporarily moved to the ship till the war ends.
After the War the overall layout of Macross City was dramatically changed, as the city now become the main place to restore the Human population and Earth environment, as the planet was devastated by the Zentradi Fleet during the War. While the main landmark of this new city still the SDF-1, now it was placed in the heart of the city, inside a lake rather than very near of residental area. Aside from the main place for Human civilization post-war, it also become the headquarters the UN Spacy, and their military base during the Earth's restoration project. In addition a large starship factory was built near the Macross lake, which capable of housing a large ship such as Megaroad-class and New Macross-class. [1]

Space War I[]
It was originally located on South Ataria Island and was built around the wreckage of the ship that was bring rebuilt into the SDF-1 Macross. When the SDF-1 Macross folded to Pluto on the outbreak of Space War I, it took parts of the surrounding city with it. The citizens decided to set up their businesses and residences once again on board the SDF-1 Macross, effectively moving the city to the ship.

- The location of Macross City post war era is never specifically stated, however based on where the SDF-1 Macross land in Episode 27, it can be assumed that Macross City is established in North America, specifically Alaska near the Grand Cannon 1.
- Based on Macross Chronicles, the location of New Macross City is in the vicinity of the Yukon-Charlie Rivers National Preserve.
- There is no official reason why the new Macross City was built on Alaska region, but in terms of strategic decision, the Grand Cannon and surrounding region is the "safest" place to land the SDF-1 and also the Grand Cannon provide many salvageable materials and technology for human settlement,
