Macross Plus (マクロスプラス アーケード Makurosu Purasu Akēdo ) is an arcade game based on based on the Macross Plus OVA and Macross Plus Movie Edition, developed by NMK and published by Banpresto in 1996.
Gameplay
The premise of the game is simple: Stop Sharon Apple's coup in the planet Eden.
The game set on a vertical style akin to Super Spacefortress Macross. In fact, the mechanics and control scheme between the two games are almost completely similar, save for a special micro-missile attack that can be executed by holding the fire button for a set amount of time. The longer the button is held, the more missiles will be fired upon release.
Another factor is the difficulty: the original Super Spacefortress Macross was made accommodating for beginners, while Macross Plus is geared more towards experienced arcade shooter players.
Player characters are no longer locked per side and there are three to choose from: Isamu Alva Dyson who pilots the YF-19, Guld Goa Bowman with the YF-21 and an original female pilot who uses the VF-11.
An ending will be shown upon completion of the 7th level, varying between characters. Beating the game a second time will show an alternate ending for Isamu and Guld, but the one for the female character will not change.
