Miss Macross 30 Contest (ミスマクロス30 Misu Makurosu 30) is a talent search competition in search for the next Ranka Lee or Lynn Minmay, sponsored by JOYSOUND. The contest was part of the "Macross 30th Anniversary Project" in celebration of the Super Dimension Fortress Macross television series. The winners were announced on September 2012.
For the 30th anniversary of Super Dimension Fortress Macross, JOYSOUND held a talent competition, based on the series' "Miss Macross Contest", in search of the next Ranka Lee or Lynn Minmay. The contest was broken down to two categories: "Singer Wing" and "Actress Wing". All applicants had to do is head to the closest JOYSOUND Karaoke and use the CROSSO machine, using the "uta suki douga" feature to record themselves singing one Macross song. They then fill out a form after forwarding their entry.
Winners of the competition would be signed on to for an upcoming Macross project under the FlyingDog label. If contestants were able to win the actress portion, they will win an on-stage role for the Macross The Musicalture that would have come out in October.
Organizers opted not to select a grand prize winner for the "Actress Wing" portion. They did however give 19-year-old Yuki Katagi a special jury selection prize (beating out 550 other entrants), with aims of finding a role for her in the musical Macross The Musicalture. She never did.
