Notes & Trivia
- The Battroid mode lineart used for the VF-1J Kai's promotional artworks is based on the VF-1J' Battroid mode detailed lineart from the book Macross Perfect Memory Page 154.[1]
- Noticeable differences from the VF-1J that Hikaru piloted in Super Dimension Fortress Macross include the redesigned head unit, the rear section of the canopy and the new color scheme.
- The Battroid mode's cockpit hatch illustration depicted by Hidetaka Tenjin is depicted with Skull Squadron emblem instead of the black and red stripes.
- The new color scheme appears to have elements inspired from the VF-25F Messiah in Macross Frontier and Hikaru's custom VF-1S and VF-1A Valkyries in The Super Dimension Fortress Macross: Do You Remember Love?.
- Despite the Hi Metal version of VF-1J Kai was announced years ago, no further information were given nor any prototype toy was showcased.
