Vampire Soldier (バンパイアソルジャー Vampire Soldier) is the fourth episode of Macross 7. It aired on November 6, 1994.
Synopsis[]
While the Fire Bomber is preforming its Planet Dance song at a concert venue somewhere in City 7, Varauta soldiers which infiltrated the ship attack several people, taking their Spiritia and leaving them comatose. The band members learn about the attacks from morning TV show, and discusses rumors attributing them to vampire attacks. Medical examination in a hospital, with aid of Dr. Chiba, determines that attacks on on civilians is the same as the attacks on pilots in space. Captain Maximilian Jenius and mayor Milia Fallyna Jenius discuss the issue, agreeing to raise patrols in the city, later changing the topic to their daughter Mylene Flare Jenius.
Milia decides to send some bodyguards, led by Michael, to protect Mylene, but she doesn't like them and runes away from them, only to run into a group of Varuta soldiers (together with Basara, who was following her). The group continues to struggle among each other (bodyguards and Basara don't get along too well), as well with Varuta soldiers, who succeed at taking some bodyguards down. Eventually, Mylene twists her ankle.
Outside the ship, Varuta space vessels defold and engage Macross 7 defenses. Diamond Force engages Gigile's Varuta units. After a while, Basara, who apparently managed to elude Varuta soldiers with Mylene, now appears in his Excalibur and begins broadcasting his Totsugeki Love Heart song from the mecha's speaker pods. He annoys Gamlin, interrupting his duel with Gigile, but his commander Kinryu denies permission to use force to deal with Basara, saying that the matter will be dealt with by their superiors. Gigile, following Geperuniti orders, breaks through Macross 7 defenses and retrieves Spirita samples from the infiltrators. After the combat, Basara walks Mylene home, saying he is worried about Guvava.
